COURSE DESCRIPTION: The first year courses (FDC 114 and FDC 124) are designed to consolidate the content and skills students acquired from their lessons in Integrated Science at the SHS Level. The semester one and two courses cover the following areas:
The structure and functions of cells; tissues; and organs; Respiratory system in humans; Structure and functions of flowering plants; Ecosystem; Element, Compounds & Mixture; Solutions; Energy, Work and Power; Light energy; Solar System; Nature of soil; Hazards; Vegetable crop production; Fish culture; and Farming systems.
Reproduction and growth in humans; heredity; diffusion and osmosis in plants and animals; circulatory system in humans; food and nutrition in plants and animals; infection and diseases; Rates and reactions; Metals and non-metals; water; Force and Momentum; Motion and pressure; and machines; Climate and Agriculture; Pests and parasites.
The Second Year First Semester Course (FDC 214) is intended to provide basic knowledge and practice in the use of effective methods in the teaching of Science. Students will be exposed to good practices in the teaching of Integrated Science. The semester one and two courses cover the following areas: Instructional Methods; Instructional Planning; Improvisation; Safety in Science Classes; Profile Dimension; The Primary and JHS Curriculum Materials.
The Second Year Second Semester Course (FDC 224) is designed to consolidate students knowledge on the topics treated in the Integrated Science at the SHS Level. The Course (FDC 224) is intended to provide basic knowledge in the following areas: life cycle of mosquito; dentition in humans; digestion in humans; acids, bases, salts and indicators; sound energy; heat energy; magnetism; electricity; basic electronics; soil and water conservation; animal production; digestion in farm animals; and farm machinery.

Agricultural remains the main stay of the socio-economic development of Ghana. It is therefore imperative that pupils at the upper primary and JHS acquire the needed information on agriculture so as appreciate the contributions of agriculture and also to consider vocation agricultural science in the future. the elective agriculture in turns to provide college trainees with the knowledge in the subject matter of agriculture so as to teach agriculture with the true breadth and depth at the basic school level of the educational programme in Ghana to provide agricultural information needs of pupils. The Course (AGN 228)-elective ONE is intended to provide basic knowledge in the following areas: Introduction to agriculture; entrepreneurship; agribusiness management; fundamental of crop production; and weeds. The Course (AGN 228)-elective TWO, covers the following areas: factors of agriculture production; diseases of farm animals; soil erosion; marketing agricultural produce; agricultural value chain; food safety and quality.
Elective Course:General programme students who developed interested in the Agricultural Science during the first year take this course as an elective course in the second year. The AGR 212 course covers the following areas: Management of Fish culture; importance of fish culture; Factors of Agricultural production; Agricultural marketing; Management in Agribusiness; Introduction to Teaching Agriculture; Planning and preparing to teach; The study of curriculum materials for the basic schools; and Safety in Agricultural Science Classes.

Course Title: PHYSICAL EDUCATION I (Foundations of Physical Education)
This course is designed to expose teacher trainees to the foundations of physical education which includes the aims, objectives of physical education, and the historical, social and humanistic bases of organized physical activity. They will also be introduced to the concepts of space awareness, effort and relationships and will gain the required knowledge for teaching these movement concepts to children. The course covers the following areas: Principles of Physical Education; History of Physical Education; Physical Fitness; First Aids; Developmental Games (movement concepts); Developmental Games (introduction to skills; Developmental Games (skill themes); Recreational Games.

Course Title: Principles and Practice of Physical Education
Elective Course:The course aims to expose teacher trainees to the basis of human physical education and some movement skills involved in track and field athletics, soccer and netball. The basis of human physical performance will elaborate on the characteristics of the human body types in relation to sports engagement. Teacher trainees will be taken through the types and functions of the human skeletal systems and the types of joints in the human body. The course will also highlight on the basic movement skills involved in athletic events, soccer and netball. The course covers basis of human performance; skeletal system; movement skills in track events; movement of skills in field events; movement skills in soccer; movement skills in netball..

Course Code: PRA 222
Course Title: Methods and practice of physical Education
Elective Course:The course is designed to provide an insight into the basic school syllabus and the preparation of the lesson plan. The rationale, scope of the work and objectives of the basic school syllabus will be looked at. Also, the structure of the universal lesson and the phases of teaching the practical physical education lesson will be tackled. The course also takes a nose dive into the psycho-social and scientific basis of physical education and sports where the use of drugs and supernatural to enhance to sports performance, and the location and action of the major muscles in the human body are covered respectively. Also, some basic movement skills involved in volley ball, table tennis and gymnastics will be covered. The course (PRA 222) covers basic school physical education syllabus; lesson planning; psycho-social basis of physical education and sports; movement skills in volley ball; movement skills in table tennis; movement skills in gymnastics; and skeletal muscles.
Bia Lamplighter College of Education was started by the Church of Christ as an evolving cutting-edge center for teacher in-service training in the Bia West District in the Western North Region. This effort has been
